Top 10 Best Selling Digimon Cards on TCGPlayer – Week of 8/21/2022

Howdy! How are you doing this week?

Apologies for missing last week but I’m back to update this post for this week!

Let’s start to dive right into the currently best-selling cards today! I am currently screenshotting the information on Tuesday 8/23/2022 in the early afternoon EST.

I am expecting the list to be just about the same as last few weeks, with X Record now circulating for nearly a month and nothing is going to come shake it up for awhile.

Please note, I am continuing to basically only show the best selling cards as singles. So no booster boxes, cases or special packs but if it’s a promo card I will add it. Those are the rules I’m continuing to play with.

So first thing to note is that we have some new additions and some losses. The Weregarurumon promo has fallen out of the top 10. It is number 11, however. Davis has seemingly snuck his way back into the Top 10 after falling out the last time I took a gander at the stats. But we have a very interesting new addition – The Omnimon Ghost Rare.

For those who do not know what card this is, it is currently the most valuable card in all of Digimon. It is called a ghost rare because that’s how exceedingly rare it is. It’s like a phantom that does not even have a specific pull rate at this time. Many people think it’s one per few cases of boxes. And a case of booster boxes usually contains twelve boxes. And not only that, it’s Omnimon – which often has the effect that Charizard has of being more “valuable” than almost any other card in the set in general. However this is genuine demand, thus bestowing value upon the card. I’m surprised that enough are selling to even be in the Top 10 right now, but alas there it is.

I’m a little surprised the Garurumon promo has fallen out of favor a bit, but it’s still holding onto the top 10, so the Metalgarurumon X deck must still be quite sought after.

I’m a little surprised the Okuwamon fell so much in price, as many people mentioned it is a staple of the GrandisKuwagamon deck. And being that green is my favorite color, and the color of said card and deck are green, I may be a little more hopeful for it than I ought to be. But it’s nice to see a green deck stomp people out every now and then when the effects of suspending often aren’t as powerful as they need to be to tussle with other deck archetypes.

MagnaAngemon rose ten whole dollars since I last remembered actually looking at it a month ago. God bless whoever needs this card to use in a deck and God bless whoever pulls one for a wonderful little sale.

I’m not surprised by Cool Boy sticking around as I hear it is a useful tool for Alphamon decks, and likely DeathXmon, too. And good for those people that it’s relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other power cards in those decks.

This DeathXmon alternate art value kind of came out of nowhere. At about $75, that’s basically the price of the MSRP of an X Record booster box! It’s similar to Omnimon Zwart Defeat for the Battle of Omni box in that you can basically recoup your entire “operating cost” of a booster box with just one great card. I checked the graph of the value of the card, and since about August 2nd (a week after the box came out) the value of the card has steadily rose week by week to the price it is now. Now considering this Digimon’s value in general keeps surprising me, I’m going to assume it will rise in price again next week. To what? I don’t know! But I’m amazed nonetheless.

What I am a little shocked by is the MetalGreymon: Alterous Mode blowing up in price and rank. Considering Agumon and Greymon in general have soooo much support, it could be useful in any number of decks from a Wargreymon X to Omnimon-based to regular Wargreymon. But to think it rose so much in price when the Okuwamon promo dropped so much is interesting.

To nobody’s surprise, the top two best selling cards are the secret rares for the X Record box. To my surprise, however, Alphamon: Ouryuken has dropped nearly $10 since I last recorded its price! Here I am looking like a silly goose expecting Alphamon to have a similar tax to Omnimon and Charizard, like the old Alphamon did from Double Diamond. But perhaps it’s merely not as useful as it’s opposition – DeathXmon. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on here, as I haven’t been paying attention to the meta too much, but I am assuming the DeathXmon is an absolute monster and necessity on some exquisite decks this season. But if you enjoy trading and selling a bit more, like I do, then lucky for you to obtain and sell this card this season.
